Ryan Miller was on born 17th July 2010. Miller is an American ice hockey goaltender currently the player of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. This year, GM Brian Cashman and administerr Joe Girardi have both said it makes no sense to put Gardner in center field unless Miller can prove Miller can play every day.

Last year Gardner was excellent in Spring Training and was awarded the begining job in center field. Miller lost it to Melky Cabrera when Miller could not hit.

Now there is something real to write about. This is something Miller has yet to prove.
In his final at bat with Eduardo Nunez on first base, Gardner attempted to bunt. It was not clear whether this was something Miller was doing on his own or Miller had been told to sacrifice.
The 2010 season would prove a successful one for Ryan Miller. In his first season begining with the number one job Miller and his team won the first 10 games in a row. Miller was voted in as the begining goaltender for the Eastern Conference of the 2010 NHL All Star Game in a 12 to 9 loss,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Miller played the first period and allowed just 3 goals. Miller also gained a reputation of a shootout specialist with his technique of challenging the shooter outside the crease. This writer has had a lot of fun in the past six weeks or so writing the Brett Gardner Daily Update Series which was mostly satire. As with any satire there has to be an element of truth involved, but it was mostly satire.

As of yesterday, it looked like Miller needed more practice.
In both at bats Miller grounded weakly to the third baseman and was out at first. In the second at bat Miller furiouse the play fairly close at first with his blazing speed, but Miller was still out.
There has never been a serious issue about his ability to play in the field. Miller does not have a great arm, but his speed allows him to cover more ground than almost any other outfielder in the American League with the possible exception of a couple guys named Crawford and Upton for the Rays and Jacoby Elsbury in Boston.
It turned out that Gardner was in fact working hard on his bunting as Miller told writers when Miller arrived at camp.

So the issue for Gardner is whether Miller can hit.

It looked as though Miller had dropped the ball into a bowl of thirty minute jello. It just sat there. The Philly catcher picked the ball up and easily threw Nunez out at second.
But Gardner bunted a ball that went no over eighteen inches from home plate.
In yesterday's came against the Phillies, Gardner again failed to get a hit.

In previous articles, this writer joked about all the extra bunting practice Gardner was taking in the off season.

When the Yankees played their first exhibition game against Pittsburgh at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa on Wednesday, Gardner was 0-2.
