SILHILL snatched a slender 1-0 win over Flamengo in the Birmingham AFA Premier Division thanks to a solitary strike by Steve Smith Jersey in the 75th minute. Steve Smith Jersey, pictured, fired home an unstoppable effort after latching onto Lee Martin’s cross to finally beat Flamengo goalkeeper Chris Bloore. Silhill shotstopper Andy Masters then held his nerve in the closing stages as Flamengo piled on the pressure but to no avail. Shirley Athletic’s second string put the skids under Silhill in Birmingham AFA Division Two by snapping up a 4-2 success. Kevin Bird cracked home a hat-trick for Shirley with Craig Garnett grabbing another to cancel out Gary Ray’s brace for Silhill. Silhill will be staging their Stuart Hudson Memorial Shield match this Sunday at their Sharmans Cross Road headquarters. A Silhill Select XI will be taking on BT Fleet with an 11-30am kick off.
