Primary malignant neoplasms of the chest wall imaging diagnosis

Key words cancer [Abstract] Objective: To investigate the primary malignant chest wall imaging features of its qualitative value. Methods: After surgery, 6 cases of pathologically confirmed primary malignant chest wall were retrospectively analyzed the X ray and CT imaging findings, combined with the literature, presented to the qualitative diagnosis of primary malignant chest wall imaging features of value. Results: 6 cases of malignant tumors in the chest wall, 4 cases occurred in the chest wall soft tissue (2 cases of liposarcoma, fibrosarcoma in 1 case, Askin tumor in 1 case), 2 cases occurred in the chest bone (cartilage sarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma and 1 rib cases). Imaging: the growth of the tumor outside the chest wall in 3 cases, the growth of the chest wall in 1 case, the growth of both internal and external to the chest wall in 2 cases, 5 cases had obvious chest wall bone destruction, 3 cases with lung metastases. Conclusion: X ray and CT of the chest wall primary malignant tumors of the location, extent and pulmonary involvement such as whether there is greater diagnostic value. [Key words] cancer; chest wall; X-ray photography; tomography; X-ray computed Imaging Diagnosis of Primary Malignant Tumor of Chest Wall Abstract : Objective To study the value of imaging characters in diagnosing primary malignant tumors of chest wall.Mothods Xray and CT findings of pathologically proved primary malignant tumor of chest wall in 6 cases were analysed, the findings enabling qualitative diagnosis were recommened. Results Of 6 patients , 4 cases were originated from soft tissue of the chest wall (2 liposarcoma, 1 fibrosarcom, 1Askin tumor). And one case was Ewing's sarcoma and one case was costal chond rosarcoma.Imaging: the tumor invaded extratissue of chest wall in 3 patients and intra tassue of chest wall in 1 patient, both intra and extra tissue of chest wall in 2 patients.Chest bone hed destruction in 5 patients there were metastases of lung in 3 patients. Conclusion Radiography and CT are of some value in evaluating the location, extent and lung invasion of malignant tumor of chest wall. Key word: Malignant tumor; Chest wall; Radiogrphy; Tomography; Xray computed collected 6 cases of primary malignant chest wall were pathologically confirmed primary malignant chest wall metastases than rare, and its performance in imaging have much in common, there are differences. Rib lesions should be based on X-based, if the soft tissue changes observed multi-CT. Through 6 cases by surgery and pathology of primary malignant chest wall confirmed X-ray, CT performance and literatures, presented its position and nature of valuable diagnostic imaging features, in order to facilitate improved diagnostic accuracy, ease of clinical choice treatment. 1 Materials and Methods 1.1 clinical data 6 cases, 4 males and 2 females, age 19 years old to 70 years, mean 54.2 years old. 5 patients with chest pain, chest mass in 6 cases, 1 case without any chest symptoms. Course of 3 weeks ~ 1 a. 1.2 use of equipment and inspection methods using Shimadzu XHD150B1000 mA X-ray machine is lateral chest film shooting, the use of spiral CT scanners Hitachi RADIX.TURBO, using thick and pitch are 10 mm, pitch of 1.0 to 1.5, 5 mm thickness in some cases to do reconstruction. 6 cases were cross-sectional scan of chest, radiography of soft tissue windows were taken, lung window and bone window, do the 4 cases plus enhanced scan. 2 results 6 cases, tory burch, originating in the chest wall soft tissue tumors in 4 cases (2 cases of liposarcoma, fibrosarcoma in 1 case, Askin tumor in 1 case .) Primary rib tumors in 2 cases (1 case of sarcoma of rib cartilage, rib Ewing's sarcoma 1). Imaging findings: The tumor located in the left side of the chest wall in 2 cases, in the right front side, right rear, left rear and left posterior in 1. Tumor size of about 4 cm ~ 10 cm in 5 cases, more than 10 cm tumor in 1 case, 1 case of lesions were irregular, round, round-like in 5 cases. The growth of tumor outside the chest wall in 3 cases, the growth of the chest wall in 1 case, while 2 cases to the internal and external growth. Tumor edge finishing in 3 cases, 3 cases of rough edges, calcification within the tumor in 2 cases, and no calcification in 4 cases, 2 cases of uniform density, uniform in 4 cases, 4 cases of enhanced scan showed a heterogeneous enhancement , accompanied by chest wall bone breaker in 5 cases, associated with multiple pulmonary nodules in 3 cases, associated with pleural effusion in 2 cases. 3 Discussion primary malignant neoplasms of the chest wall on the literature less malignant tumors in the chest wall to see more metastases in the chest wall primary malignant, sarcoma more common than cancer, to a multi-liposarcoma. Primary malignant chest wall can be divided into the chest wall soft tissue tumors and bone tumors (mainly ribs) into two categories; and to our hospital in recent years have found several cases to be discussed.
