Miami Hurricanes kicker Matt Bosher really packs a punch
University of Miami defensive tackle Josh Holmes recently recalled Matt Bosher kicking off during a preseason scrimmage and the returner charging up field -- until, inexplicably, Bosher sent him sprawling.
``We're like, `Bosher! What are you doing, man?' Holmes said. `It's a scrimmage, man! If you're going to do that,NCAA Jerseys, just do it in a game. Be like Peyton Manning Jersey. If he throws an interception, he just walks off the field. No reason to get hurt now.'
``The kid can do everything.''
This is a Hurricane who wrote on a preseason questionnaire that being a Cane means ``knowing you are the hardest-working, baddest SOB in the nation. Knowing every time you step on that field that people fear and respect you.''
This isn't a projected first-round defensive end or Thorpe Award semifinalist or ravenous linebacker who made 11 tackles Saturday at Ohio State.
This is about Lou Groza Award candidate Bosher, who not only entered the 2010 season as the most accurate returning kicker in the nation (he made 32 of 36 field-goal attempts his first three years), but has wowed teammates and coaches with his aggressiveness and tackling skills.
``I love tackling,'' said the 6-0, 205-pound Bosher. ``It's part of the sport, and one reason I wanted to play football. Granted, I play the least contact position on the field, but it's exciting every time I do it.
``I mean, you get to go up and just hit somebody and not get in trouble for it.'' |
